BRIAN JOYCE - CHAIRMAN
Brian is committed to his family, church and the community that he lives in. Passionate about empowering people to aspire to their full potential. Brian has recently retired from fulltime work, and now has the freedom to further engage in community and civic affairs.
Brian Desmond Joyce is Papakura's outstanding kaumatua, highly respected by Iwi Maori as a man who supports, encourages and implements transformational change with unwavering commitment and drive. For 40 years, Brian has demonstrated inspirational leadership for Maori in Papakura, Far North, across NZ, in hospitals, youth who have been arrested, Church, Maori Health, NZ Maori Council and board tables. A great leader who keeps in view the necessity for all to uphold honourable principles, justice, compassion, temperance, prudence, fortitude and courage. He is a hard-worker in pursuing excellence, to have a sense of right and wrong, fairness and inclusiveness, to maintain a strong personal discipline and a consistency of behaviour, while keeping grounded and finding enjoyment in his pursuits.
When people talk about Brian, they speak about his ability to galvanise whatever team or trust he is associated with. A rare combination of strong convictions and collegial humility and can motivate people to aspire to greatness.
His mana within the Maori worldview led to his appointment as Chair for Lottery Marae Heritage and Facilities in 2010, Chair for NZ Maori Council Ki Tamaki Ki Te Tonga and Chair for Te Hononga, Kaumatua for Aotearoa Credit Union and now Chair for Papakura Marae after 20 years as Papakura Marae CEO.
BROWNIE RAUWHERO - KIINGITANGA REPRESENTATIVE
Brownie has nine years’ experience as a Tainui Maori Trust Board Member, Director Waikato Fisheries, Chairperson Tamaki Runanga, Member Tainui Raupatu Claims Team, Member/Assistant Chair of the Huakina Development Trust Management Committee, Fifteen years as Chairperson of the Koroneihana Committee, Five years as Chairperson Tamaki Makaurau Marae Committee.
Experience in Huakina Iwi Social Services under the Children Young Persons & their Families Act 1989, Experience in Huakina Age Care Services, Huakina Dev Trust Pukekohe/Papakura Court Liaison Officer, Huakina Development Trust Stopping Male Violence, Facilitator, Huakina Development Trust Iwi Rep/Pukekohe/Papakura Probation Services, Huakina Dev Trust, Co-ordinator for Rangatahi Support Services, Pukaki Papakainga Kahui Kaumatua.

ANNE KENDALL - EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Iwi: Tuhoe, Raukawa ki Tainui, Tuwharetoa,
Many years’ experience in Community Development, Funding Educator, Proposal and Report Writing, Relationship Management, Trade Unions and Quality Control, whilst working for Internal Affairs. Anne is a qualified Health Auditor, extensive experience with Local &Central Government, brings to the Papakura Marae Board, project planning, Maori Land Research, strategic planning, dissemination of information, analytical and critic analyses skills and Health Auditing. Completed indigenous governance training at Waikato University, wrote the Charter for Pakaketaiari Marae (Mokai) and uses a common-sense approach for solutions.
Current Chair for Marotiri and Pureora Forestry Hapu Cluster Trust, was Governance Sub-Committee representative on Project Patient Safety with CMDHB, Family Start Champion for Kotahitanga Limited and Chaired Papakura Marae Quality Assurance subcommittee. Current COGS Funding Committee Member (Papakura/Franklin) with the Department of Internal Affairs. Trustee for Te Hononga, Chairperson Whaitiaki, President Whaitiaki Maori Women Welfare League and Maori Warden Life Member.
After having raised three successful children full-time in the home, and completing a BA in Chinese from Massey University including a semester at Wuhan University, China, Darlene ventured into the workforce at the ripe age of 45. Her childhood, young adult years and married home life proved to be her training ground for pioneering the Certificate in Employment Skills in the Mahi Ora programme in Palmerston North single-handedly and then pioneering the ESOL programme in Auckland, both with Te Wananga o Aotearoa.
Having served as a leader in all auxiliaries of the church she belongs to, Darlene is currently the president of a woman’s programme with the Chinese branch in Auckland city central where her networks with locals and in other areas is an asset in pastoral care of these immigrant women with diverse needs.
She is fearless and always willing to take on new challenges. Darlene is passionate about raising holistic health standards in the home to better raise healthier succeeding generations.
DONNA (TUMAI) RIKA
A Garment Engineer by trade Donna also has valuable experience and skills in the Textile Industry, Education Industry, Sport and Event Management, Food and Preparation and Community Engagement.
A perfectionist for systems and procedure’s, Donna always seizes the opportunity to ask questions. She is an analytical thinker and possesses excellent leadership qualities.
Donna‘s claim to fame is commentating at the 2013 UCI BMX World Championships at the Vector Arena in Auckland.
She believes in a healthy and clean lifestyle and has a genuine love for the community.
Jan has lived in Papakura for the past 23 years and actively involved in Maori and Community Development through Papakura Marae, Maori Wardens, Church and previous roles in Auckland Council.
A past Trustee and Chair of a local Primary School, Hapu and Marae with proven governance experience and ability to support positive educational/Maori outcomes.
Accomplished and energetic person with a well-respected history of work in community development initiatives and a working knowledge of grass root community networks in Papakura and South Auckland. Motivated leader with strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise resources to achieve organisations goals.
Has excellent knowledge and experience within policy frameworks from 35 years of working in local body and government agencies.
Areas of expertise include project management, community development/engagement in a range of multicultural communities and communication.
Proven ability in growing key customer/stakeholder relationships. Confident in representing organisations with a friendly, professional manner at all times.
MIHI TIBBLE - EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Planning and Funding // Communications // Organizational Performance
With seventeen years’ experience in senior Management and governance roles, Mihi has worked across the NGO and Government sector across health, social services and more recently housing. She has held governance roles with a few community groups, runanga, PHOs and not for profit groups.
With a passion for Maori development and advancement her portfolios have included Primary Care, Strategy, Organisation Performance, Outcome Frameworks, and Stakeholder Engagement, Communications and Regeneration / Development programs. Mihi has four children and is based in South Auckland.
