Calling for more Maori New Graduate Nurses
July 19, 2017
We need more Maori new graduate nurses working in our community. IF you are currently or looking to become or know of any new graduate Maori nurses please encourage them to get involved in the community setting, helping whanau and putting whanau at the centre of everything. As a Maori new graduate nurse you can come straight into Maori provider and community settings.
New graduate nurses can bring innovation and change to our whanau and communities. This is always welcome and encouraged.
One of our Maori nurses, Nicole Waters, recently received an award for the Counties Manukau District Health Board Maori Nurse of the Year. Nicole thinks the new graduate program is a valuable resource with the support received and the opportunities for growth. "Primary Health Care is where is happens.....we are supported by the DHB and PHOs in post graduate papers. I can see myself becoming a nurse practitioner in the future".
